How to read this
- HerWorkCircle is likely the better fit: Take the free skill check. It takes about 25 minutes on your phone, and we only send you work we have checked.
- SHEROES is likely the better fit: Try SHEROES for community, learning and its counselling helpline, and check that the app works for you.
- Use both, for different things: Use both: SHEROES for community and support, HerWorkCircle for checked paid work.
A side is called when it leads by two or more answers. Each question has one answer that fits each option.
Is SHEROES real or fake?
SHEROES is real. It was started in the early 2010s by Sairee Chahal, and the company behind the app is Applied Life Private Limited in New Delhi. In 2018 it relaunched as a women-only social network and closed its job listings product, according to an interview with its founder.
Today it has two sides. The SHEROES app is the community, with groups, sessions, Google's WomenWill course and the AskSHEROES counselling helpline. MARS by SHEROES is the work side: it sells remote services such as AI review, data checking and customer operations to companies, done by women it has screened, trained and certified.
Check the current state yourself. The Android app was last updated on 10 October 2023, and it was down for maintenance in March 2024.
Earning apps: how to check any app
Many women search for "earning apps". Some are real, and many are not. Use this check on any app, including the ones a friend forwards to you.

How to read this
- No warning signs so far: Still read the company's terms, and start small before you put in much time.
- Be careful: Find the company's own website and read its terms on payouts before you do any work.
- Walk away: A fee, a withdrawal trap, or two or more of these signs is enough. If you already paid, call 1930.
If an app or programme charges for a certificate, ask what you get for it and whether paid work is promised afterwards, in writing. HerWorkCircle's skill check is free, and we never ask you to pay.
Staying safe in a women-only community
- Keep your phone number and address off your public profile and posts.
- SHEROES bans job posts in its community, so a job offer that arrives in a private message is a warning sign.
- Report invitations to join network-marketing schemes; SHEROES's guidelines ban them.
- Use only the helpline inside the official app, and never share bank details with anyone who says they are from support.
Our guides on telling real work from fake and WhatsApp job offers cover the warning signs in detail.
Your data on SHEROES
SHEROES's privacy policy says it collects device identifiers, including the advertising ID, and general location, receives data from marketing partners, and may show ads based on your activity elsewhere online. It also lists identity data, such as Aadhaar or PAN and an image of the card, as data it may collect, for example when it asks a member to prove who she is.
- Before you share an ID card image with any app, ask why it is needed and how long it is kept.
- Reset your phone's advertising ID from your Android settings if you want to limit ad tracking.
- You can ask SHEROES to delete your account; its policy says some data may be kept where the law requires.
At HerWorkCircle only our team sees your details, and we never sell or share them.
SHEROES is not the Sheroes Hangout café
Sheroes Hangout is a café run by acid-attack survivors, set up by the Chhanv Foundation. It shares a similar name but has nothing to do with the SHEROES app. If you were looking for the café, its official page is on the Chhanv Foundation website.
Using both
- Use SHEROES to meet other women, learn, and reach its counselling helpline.
- Take the free HerWorkCircle skill check to get matched to checked, paid work from home.
- Never pay any app or person to get work, on either platform or anywhere else.
