Schemes for women

Government schemes for women, checked and dated

Short answer

The central government has no monthly cash scheme for every woman; claims of one are fake. Monthly money for women comes from state schemes, such as Gruha Lakshmi in Karnataka. All-India help is mostly for work: Mudra business loans up to ₹20 lakh, a PMEGP subsidy of up to 35%, self-help group loans, free training and the PM Internship.

How we check, and what the labels mean

Every scheme on these pages was checked against its official source, such as a government order, the department's own website, a budget speech or a PIB release, on the date shown. Where only a news report confirms the latest status, we say so. Each scheme carries one label:

LabelWhat it means for you
OpenRunning now. You can apply, or apply when its yearly window opens
Closed to newPeople already in it are paid, but new people can't join
PausedNot closed, but not paying or taking applications right now
Announced onlyPromised in a speech or budget, with no rules or application yet. Don't pay anyone to register you
ClosedEnded. Pages that still say "apply now" are out of date
FakeDoesn't exist. Checked and declared false by PIB Fact Check, the government or the police

Is this scheme real? A one-minute check

Tick everything the message or website does

0 of 6 ticked

Tick everything that is true. Your result appears here, and changes as you go.

How to read this
  • No warning signs so far: Still find the scheme on its department's own website, or on myscheme.gov.in, before you share any documents.
  • Check before you do anything: Look for the scheme on a gov.in website. If you can't find it there, treat it as fake.
  • This is very likely fake: Government schemes never charge a fee and never need your OTP. Report it to PIB Fact Check on WhatsApp at 8799711259. If you lost money, call 1930 at once.
Nothing you tick is saved or sent anywhere.

Questions

Does the central government give every woman money every month?

No. Claims of ₹15,000, ₹1.6 lakh or ₹5,000 a month for all women have been declared fake by PIB Fact Check. Monthly money for women, where it exists, comes from state schemes such as Gruha Lakshmi in Karnataka. The central cash support for women is maternity support for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Do I have to pay someone to get a Mudra loan?

No. Mudra loans come only from banks and registered lenders, and no agents are authorised. A letter or message asking for a fee first is fake.

Can I still apply for Stand-Up India or the ₹2 crore loan for women?

Not right now. Stand-Up India ran until March 2025 and a new version is being prepared. The ₹2 crore loan for first-time women entrepreneurs announced in Budget 2025-26 has not started. For now, look at Mudra (up to ₹20 lakh) or PMEGP (a 35% subsidy for women in villages).

Is registering on National Career Service or e-Shram free?

Yes. Neither charges a fee at any stage, and a Common Service Centre must not charge you either.

I am in my final year of college. Can I join the PM Internship Scheme?

Yes, since 22 April 2026, if you are 18 to 25 and get a No Objection Certificate from your college. It pays at least ₹9,000 a month plus ₹6,000 once.

How do I become a Lakhpati Didi? Is there a form?

There is no separate form. Join a self-help group in your village. Over time, the group's funds, bank loans and training help members build an income; women who run two or more livelihood activities are picked for extra support.

I left research after marriage or children. Is there help to return?

Yes, through yearly calls: DST's WISE fellowships (₹37,000 to ₹67,000 a month) and DBT BioCARe (₹58,000 to ₹75,000 a month). DST's calls have been closed since February 2025 and DBT's 2026-27 call closed on 23 September 2026, so watch their websites for the next one.

Where do I report a fake scheme?

Send it to PIB Fact Check on WhatsApp at 8799711259. If you lost money or shared an OTP, call 1930 at once and file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in.
