The ₹1,000 a month: what is true now
- It is ₹1,000 a month, not ₹1,100. The ₹1,100 was the 2022 promise. The 2026-27 budget set up the scheme at ₹1,000, and ₹1,500 for Scheduled Caste women, with ₹9,300 crore.
- It is being paid. Registration began in April 2026, and news reports say about 68.5 lakh women were covered after a release on 1 August 2026.
- Who can get it: women in Punjab aged 18 or more. We could not find the official order with the full exclusion rules, so ask at the counter if a pension or government job in your family affects you.
- Where to register: Sewa Kendras, Anganwadi centres and municipal offices. Registration is free.
No one from the government asks for your ATM card number, PIN or an OTP to register. In 2022 a WhatsApp "women's pension" form did exactly that, and police filed an FIR.
Jobs: registration, training and the 33% quota
- Register on PGRKAM, the Punjab Ghar Ghar Rozgar portal. It is free and lists private and government jobs and district job fairs.
- Ask your district bureau about Punjab Skill Development Mission courses. We found no official list of current fees or stipends, so ask before you join.
- Claim the women's quota in government job forms. 33% of direct recruitment posts, Groups A to D, in departments, boards and corporations are kept for women under the Punjab Civil Services (Reservation of Posts for Women) Rules, 2020, as a Supreme Court judgment records.
Punjab pays no unemployment allowance. Bus travel is free for women only on ordinary buses, not AC or Volvo.
