Mahila Rojgar Yojana in 2026: what is true now
- The first ₹10,000 is a one-time grant, not ₹10,000 a month. About 1.56 crore women had received it by the February 2026 budget, and new batches are still being paid.
- The second instalment is ₹20,000. The state cabinet approved it on 31 January 2026. You get it only after showing that you used the first ₹10,000 for your work.
- "Up to ₹2 lakh" is the total for later stages, after an assessment of your work. It is not a fixed lump sum.
- It is paid in batches. Not being in one batch doesn't mean you were rejected: ask your group (SHG) or village organisation.
- It is free. JEEViKA says any demand for money to join a group or fill the form is not allowed.
The only official portal is mmry.brlps.in. Sites with names like mahila-rojgar-yojana.com are not government sites.
Jobs: the allowance, skills and the women's quota
- Register as a job seeker at your district employment office or on the National Career Service portal, for job fairs (niyojan mela) and counselling.
- If you are 20 to 25 and not working, apply for the Swayam Sahayata Bhatta: ₹1,000 a month for up to 2 years. It covers 12th pass and, since September 2025, graduates.
- Take the free Kushal Yuva course in computers, communication and soft skills at a centre near you.
- Claim the women's quota in government job forms. 35% of state government posts in direct recruitment are kept for women. Since 8 July 2025 it applies only to women who are permanent residents of Bihar.
What changed in 2025 and 2026
- Pensions for widows, the elderly and people with disabilities rose from ₹400 to ₹1,100 a month from July 2025.
- A new government: the NDA won the November 2025 election, and Samrat Choudhary became Chief Minister on 15 April 2026.
- The 2026-27 budget for women's empowerment fell 52% to ₹9,052 crore, because the 2025-26 figure included the one-time ₹10,000 payments.
- Free bus travel for women was only on Raksha Bandhan. Women-only Pink Buses charge normal fares.
- Announced in August 2026, with no application page yet: a "Bihar Ki Beti" startup challenge for women entrepreneurs, and a PhD fellowship for girls.

Fake schemes going around
These were checked and found false. A real scheme never asks you to pay to register, and never comes only as a WhatsApp link. If you lost money, call 1930 or report it at cybercrime.gov.in.
- FakeLinks on WhatsApp or SMS for the Mahila Rojgar Yojana that ask for your Aadhaar, bank details and OTP
Fake. Money has been taken from women's accounts this way. The only portal is mmry.brlps.in, and nobody from JEEViKA asks for an OTP. Prabhat Khabar, September 2025
- FakeAgents who take ₹1,000 to "get you the ₹10,000 quickly"
The scheme is free. JEEViKA says any demand for money to join a group or fill the form is not allowed. JEEViKA (BRLPS), September 2025
- Fake"₹10,000 a month for every woman" or "five fixed instalments of ₹2.1 lakh"
False. ₹10,000 is a one-time first grant; later help is up to ₹2 lakh in total, based on an assessment of your work. Press Information Bureau

Questions
When will the Mahila Rojgar Yojana ₹10,000 come?

How do I get the second instalment of ₹20,000?
