CMMFI and start-ups: the main help for women
- CMMFI is a bank loan, not a gift. You put in at least 10%, the bank lends up to 60%, and the state pays a 30% subsidy at the end. No collateral up to ₹10 lakh for small enterprises, and the state pays the interest for the first 6 months.
- Self-help groups get 4% extra interest support on NSRLM group credit under CMMFI.
- Women-led start-ups: 25% of the state's start-up funds are kept for them, plus a longer state GST refund (30% more, for up to 2 extra years).
- Announced in the 2026-27 budget, not open yet: a ₹2 crore Innovation Seed Fund for about 1,000 women with very small businesses, and a pilot of about 50 pink taxis driven by women.
Nobody needs to be paid to "get" a CMMFI subsidy. Apply on the credit portal and at your bank; helpline 1800-345-8924.
Jobs: training, paid work and registration
- Take a short NSEDM course. Courses are for indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland, run in phases; some ask a ₹1,000 registration fee that is refunded. Residential courses include stay and meals.
- Learn tailoring, knitting, baking or hairstyling at the women's department training centres in Kohima and Dimapur.
- Earn per piece under Myki if you already have stitching or craft skills.
- Register at the employment exchange for job assistance. No allowance is paid.
Nagaland pays no unemployment allowance and has no free bus for women, and we found no women's quota in state government jobs. The ₹200 a month for destitute women aged 35 to 60 is applied for at the Directorate of Women Resource Development in Kohima.
