Aama Sashaktikaran in 2026: what is true now

  • ₹40,000 a year, in two instalments, paid through State Bank of Sikkim. It started at ₹20,000 a year in 2022, so older articles show the wrong amount.
  • Who it is for: mothers aged 18 to 59 with no regular job, including unmarried, widowed, divorced and separated mothers.
  • It is being paid now. Over 32,000 mothers were covered in 2025-26, and on 3 October 2026 the Chief Minister handed cheques to 1,000 mothers in Rhenock; MLAs are giving them out in their own constituencies.

Only trust scheme news from sikkim.gov.in and district offices. In July 2024 the state warned that a Facebook profile posing as the Chief Minister was fake.

Work: start-ups, training and placement

  1. Skilled Youth Startup Scheme: a 35% subsidy (50% for BPL families) on a bank loan for your project, if you are 18 to 45 and your family earns up to ₹8 lakh. A 3-day training is required. We found no 2026 intake notice, so ask the District Industries Centre first.
  2. Sikkim INSPIRES runs short skills courses, placement help and business support for women and young people. Phone +91 81588 81484.
  3. Niyukti Kendra at the Skill Development Department helps with placement, apprenticeships and career counselling. Online registration is not ready yet, so visit or call.
  4. Women's quota in government jobs: 30%, as the state said in March 2020. We found no rule number, so check each job advert.

Sikkim pays no unemployment allowance that we could find on an official page.
