Captcha typing jobs: real or fake? What they pay
Captcha typing work is real but pays very little: 2Captcha, a captcha site that publishes its rates, pays $0.14 to $0.60 for every 1,000 standard captchas, about ₹13 to ₹57. Any captcha job that charges a joining fee, sets a target or sends a legal notice is a scam.

What real captcha work pays
At 2Captcha's own rates, 1,000 captchas earn about ₹13 to ₹57, and ₹100 takes about 1,760 to 7,560 captchas.
Captcha sites pay you to type the letters in distorted pictures, so that software can get past websites that check for robots. 2Captcha publishes its worker rates: $0.14 to $0.60 for every 1,000 standard captchas, depending on how busy the site is and how hard the captchas are. Google's reCAPTCHA, solved with 2Captcha's own software, pays a fixed $1 per 1,000.
| Captchas | At the lowest rate | At the highest rate |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | about ₹13 | about ₹57 |
| To earn ₹100 | about 7,560 captchas | about 1,760 captchas |
| To earn ₹500 | about 37,800 captchas | about 8,820 captchas |
Getting the money out is harder still. 2Captcha says it does not pay to PayPal, bank accounts or Western Union. It pays only to online wallets and crypto accounts, each with its own minimum: $1 (about ₹94) for the AirTM wallet, for example. It works in an Android app, a mobile browser or on a computer.
2Captcha charges nothing to join. If a "captcha job" asks you for a fee, treat it as a scam.

The captcha job scam
Fake captcha jobs send legal notices to make you pay: one person lost ₹6,17,660 to a single gang.
In February 2024, Cyberabad police arrested four men from Surat who offered captcha typing work on WhatsApp in the name of "Flora Solutions". After people did the work, the gang sent fake legal notices claiming they had broken its terms and conditions, and collected money under threat. One complainant paid ₹6,17,660. The gang was linked to 358 complaints from 25 states and 2 union territories.
It is common enough that the Home Ministry's cybercrime centre issued an advisory on fake captcha filling jobs in April 2025.
- A joining fee or deposit 2Captcha charges nothing to join. A fee is a warning.
- A daily target 2Captcha pays per captcha. A target with a fine is set up so you fail.
- "You broke the terms" Followed by a demand to pay for breaking an agreement.
- A legal notice on WhatsApp Fake notices are how this scam collects money. Don't pay.
Any one of these means the captcha job is fake. Stop and report it at cybercrime.gov.in or on 1930.
Why captcha work is a poor bet
Computers now solve captchas better than people, and big websites are replacing them with checks you never see.
Captchas were built to tell people from robots. That no longer works well: summing up a 2023 university study, security researcher Bruce Schneier wrote that bots are now better than humans at solving them.
Websites are moving to checks you never see. Cloudflare launched a captcha replacement in 2022 and said it cut its own captcha use by 91%. Work that machines do better, and that websites are moving away from, is a poor thing to build an income on.
Better work for careful typists
If you type carefully, data checking and AI work use the same care, and real jobs never charge you to start.
- Test your typing speed and accuracy with our guide to typing jobs: real or fake.
- Read what checked data entry work from home involves and pays.
- Look at AI training jobs from home: checking AI answers needs the same care, and the guide shows what it pays.
- Take the free HerWorkCircle skill check on your phone. It matches you to checked work and never asks you to pay.

Questions
Are captcha typing jobs real?
Yes, but they pay very little. 2Captcha pays $0.14 to $0.60 per 1,000 standard captchas, about ₹13 to ₹57. A captcha job that charges a fee is a scam.
How much can I earn from captcha typing in India?
At 2Captcha's rates, earning ₹100 takes about 1,760 to 7,560 captchas. It is pocket money at best, not a monthly income.
Can I do captcha typing on my phone?
2Captcha has an Android app and a mobile browser version. It doesn't pay to bank accounts or PayPal, only to online wallets and crypto accounts.
I got a legal notice from a captcha job. What should I do?
Don't pay. Fake notices are how this scam collects money. Keep the messages, call 1930 if you paid, and report at cybercrime.gov.in.
Is captcha typing safe?
The real sites pay very little, and only through wallets and crypto. The fake ones take fees and send legal notices. Either way, we wouldn't build an income on it.
